Consulting for You?

                                         READY TO TAKE THE LEAP?

Take a few moments, answer the questions. Reply in a candid manner; and, your observations may have an affect your next step.  Enjoy!   Yes = +1, Not Sure = 0, No = -1

1.  Can you manage wearing all the company hats?
2.  Are you self-motivated?
3.  Are you self-directed?
4.  Are you self-disciplined?
5.  Can you think on your feet?
6.  Can you change momentum in an instant?
7.  Can you please most personalities?
8.  Do you know your competition?
9   What sets your competition apart?
10. Have a high tolerance for risk?
11. Are you ready for long hours?
12. Do you have a niche?
13. Can you handle voids in income?
14. Are you flexible?
15. Is consulting your only alternative?
16. Do you have a business plan in writing? If yes, do you have a strong marketing plan?
17. Do you know the six keys to success in consulting?

This question is a bonus (not subject to the numbering scheme):

                    Are you a task-oriented or process-oriented?

If task-oriented, you will in all probability enter into a consulting practice that mirrors your professional career.  This is a customary and a very fitting course of action.  Process-oriented professionals take a broad view of the marketplace, consider all skills, and map those skills to what is valuable to a client.

Whether you choose to begin your own consulting  business, give adjunct consulting, or an executive position in corporate America, you've been a consultant either internally or with clients all your career!  Is this the time to go solo or partner with a group of skilled individuals with complementary areas of expertise?

The real issue is:   Do you have a Plan B?

Are you prepared for an unplanned career change?
